Tis the season for it's-not-spring-yet illnesses that just seem to make the rounds over and over again. We get them too! We get them less often than we did last year, that is for sure, but we get them. As I type, my little almost 3 year old is burning with fever in my bed. My 8 1/2 year old had the same thing a few days ago. He got over it in less than 24 hours- more like 12! My almost 6 year old just got over it as well and my one year old took a turn too. How did we get over it so fast? I have a lot of people ask me that- some of them have the same oils available to them that I do, so why am I getting results? That's what this post is about- hitting it hard!
Imagine heading to the doc, getting a prescription antibiotic and taking it once. Or even once a day. What about Tylenol? Would you take it once and expect to be completely well? No way! (If you have some medicine that makes you healthy in one dose, please give it to me to keep next to my mythical money tree.)
CPTG (certified pure therapeutic grade) essential oils are amazing but they are not magic! Sometimes it may seem that way, but there is science- biology, chemistry and physics to be had. They must follow the laws of the universe!
I recommend to those who ask that when trying to eradicate a plague on your household, dose accordingly. I like to layer on a combination of antibacterial, antiviral oils- depending on symptoms, at least every 4-6 hours (sometimes every 2-3 hours). Generally, I throw everything I've got at it, within reason. For example, this 103.7 degree fever my kids have been passing around. I've been using On Guard, Frankincense, Melaleuca, Oregano, Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint (this one is especially important for treating fevers). For kids, I just touched the top of the bottle, flipped it over, and rubbed that on the bottoms of their feet every 2-3 hours. Overkill? Maybe. But that much is not going to hurt them, and it sure as heck is going to take out whatever mean little bug is plaguing them. Some of them have had some sinus and/or cough issues. I have just diluted 1 drop of Breathe and one drop of Frankincense in about 2-3 drops of fractionated coconut oil (my favorite carrier oil) and rubbed it into their chests, across the bridge of the nose (it stings a little on the face, but it doesn't last long), and on the feet. For those with tummy issues, we've done a drop of DigestZen rubbed into the tummy (diluted 1:1) and then a little on the tongue. I just put a little on my finger and have the child lick it. Again with the stinging, but it passes fast- especially with a little sip of water.
Treating aggressively gets results. Please use common sense and don't slather top to bottom, but don't be too timid either! The difference between using the oils and using prescription antibiotics is that you repeat dose for a day or two instead of 10 days, you feel better faster, and you don't have any harmful side effects. (Not to mention skipping the doc visit, the insurance info, picking up the prescription, and all of the "wait it out" stress of not being able to treat a virus!)
We love our essential oils!
